Topic
Pornography at Work: Systemic Issues and Opportunities for EA intervention
An overall assessment of the use/consumption of Pornography in the Workplace currently, costs of this issue, and more evolved ways of dealing with the problem in a constructive outcomes methodology.
Summary:
We all have at least heard about the issues and challenges that pornography poses to individuals, groups, couples, and societies around the globe. We hear the reports of the negative effects pornography has on healthy sexuality, marriages, teens/young adults in relationships, all the way to sex trafficking/child pornography and other illegal aspects of the porn industry.
What we don’t hear as much about is the effects that porn has on the workplace, occupational environments, and human resource management in organizations. There are a myriad of different internal responses to pornography use at work ranging from avoidance of addressing the issue at all to zero tolerance/immediate termination scenarios in certain contexts/settings. Employee Assistance can assist with the Core Technologies to begin offering more cost effective processes and policy formulation in order to assist those in need of recovery from the porn addictive behaviors.
Objectives:
Participants will learn of the costs to productivity and human capital that pornography creates.
Participants will learn of traditional strategies employed to combat pornography in the workplace and more EA friendly strategies that can be employed.
Participants will learn of educational resources to learn more about the issue from an EAP perspective and neuroscience perspective.
Participants will learn a process of handling an employee struggling with pornography issues within the context of company/industry policies and regulations.
