Cancer affects not only patients but their entire family as well as co workers.
Many people are not sure what to say when someone they know in the workplace is diagnosed with cancer. Our work relationships are an integral part of the fabric of our lives. Many of us spend more waking hours at work than at home. Many families are scattered geographically and so for some people, the workplace is “family.”
Many human resource departments are proactive in helping their employees cope with cancer in the workplace. They demonstrate compassion by developing educational programs to help employees with their concerns.
The American Disabilities Act even includes Cancer on the list of protected disabilities such as PTSD and Bipolar Disorder among other deceases and prohibits employment discrimination because of a the disability.

About the Speakers
Tracey Willingham is a Licensed Master Social Worker and the Senior Program Director at Cancer Care Services. She has worked with the Oncology population for almost 7 years. She now serves in an administrative role working with program development, program based outcome evaluation and data analysis.
Deanna Stuart is the Director of Development at Cancer Care Services. With an academic background in Physiology, Deanna has extensive leadership experience in business and community service organizations as well as philanthropy.
