Topic: “When Events off the Clock Affect Us on the Clock”
Considering recent tragic events in the nation and our own backyard, this is a timely and vital discussion for employee assistance professionals, counselors and clinicians. The tragedy in Dallas is the most recent event contributing to the high levels of tension present between police and communities of color and is a reflection of other recent events that have occurred among other multicultural groups that have left our nation in disarray. Events like this one, and the many that have occurred in recent times can promote anxiety, fear, anger, and grief and this presentation will provide a discussion on how to support employees impacted in the workplace by events occurring outside of the workplace.
Annia will discuss the multicultural and societal impacts of recent events. She will present information that will help attendees gain a better understanding on how to have difficult conversations about race, injustice and violence. Attendees will learn about the mental health impacts of crisis and trauma. This presentation will allow attendees to explore their own biases while obtaining learning tools to be supportive to employees in the workplace.
