How does the employer background check process impact the EA practitioner, employees and clients? What are the current trends regarding employment background investigations?

Most employers recognize the need to conduct a background check on the prospective or even current employees but many are confused by the myriad of resources available to them and their legal compliance requirements. With increased focus on background checks issues from the EEOC and the plaintiffs’ attorneys, HR and EA professionals need to understand what information is requested from background screening partners and how it can be to used legally.

About the Speaker: Mike Coffey, SPHR

Mike Coffey is president of Imperative Information Group, an employment background investigations firm based in Fort Worth, Texas. Mike is an HR professional with experience in aerospace, healthcare, and the service industry. Mike maintains his certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) through the Human Resources Certification Institute. Mike is Past-President of the Fort Worth Human Resource Management Association and a District Director for Texas SHRM. He is also a board member for the Texas Association of Business and a past director for the National Association of Professional Background Screeners. Mike has been a licensed private investigator since 1998 and is a past-director of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators and the National Association of Legal Investigators. He lives in Fort Worth with his wife and three sons.
