“EAP Ethics/2015 and Beyond”

Utilizing a highly interactive format, this workshop provides participants with both an understanding of the bases of ethical practice in EAPs as well as prompting discussion of the ethical conflicts that confront the EAP practitioner.  Participants will leave with a greater comprehension of role of ethics in their professional practice and a framework for ethical dilemma analysis.

To present theoretical and historical bases of ethics guiding EAP practice.

To examine methods and frameworks of ethical decision making.

To provide small group formats in which attendees may discuss contemporary ethical dilemmas and apply ethical analysis.

Speaker - Jeff Christie, CEAP, LCSW

Jeff is a accomplished employee assistance professional with 30 years of experience rendering, establishing, expanding, managing, and operating employee assistance programs, primarily for Fortune 500 companies. He has broad experience in coordinating EAPs in relation to organizational safety, security, and healthcare concerns. Jeff has served as president or board member of the two largest of the field’s professional associations: the Employee Assistance Roundtable and the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA).

“Changing Times: Professional Development in a Changing World of Work”

The work world is changing. Factors as diverse as the impact of five generations in the workplace, the explosion of data and the mismatch between the skills available versus what the economy needs are combining to drive both change and stress.

As a result, having a good handle on our own individual development, both professional and personal, is a key to career growth and personal fulfillment. But as busy professionals where do we start.

In the session we will talk briefly about the changing work place, both in healthcare and beyond. Then we will take some time to explore: 1.The disconnect between our personal strengths and what we do every day in the workplace. 2. Managing our own development. 3.How to get to where we want to go (or how do we even know where we want to go).

Learning objectives:

Understand the drivers of stress in the modern workplace and why that stress will continue to increase.

Review the key drivers for personal satisfaction in our work and lives.

Discuss the idea of intentionally designing our life and career rather than accepting the circumstances.

Learn how to build a development plan for our career, and our life!
